The Mother Plucker’s Ramblings

Do you have what it takes to be a guitar god? Well, on Friday, June 8th at 9pm, Pluckers and 101X will give you that chance. We are turning our deck at South Lamar into your private stage to unleash your inner rockdom and give you your shot at feeling what it is like to be a real Guitar Hero. So read below for how to enter and contest details.

Contest Information

· We are searching for a maximum of 30 players or teams of two to participate in the contest. Because the registration is so limited, we will be extremely selective about who earns the right to perform in front of our adoring fans.

· You can register in two different ways.

1. The boring way is to complete a Guitar Hero Registration Form and drop it off at any Austin Pluckers restaurant.
2. A true rocker will post a 3-7 minute video on You Tube showing why you think you deserve to be in the contest. In the video, we want to see you playing your favorite Guitar Hero song, rocking your heart out and showing us what we can expect from you on stage. Use props, costumes, Eddie Van Halen aerials, Pete Townsend windmills or whatever you think makes for an entertaining show. After your video has been posted on You Tube, send it to dpaul@pluckers.net for us to review along with the additional information requested on the Guitar Hero Registration Form. Hint: Video submissions are HIGHLY ENCOURAGED!

· Either form of registration is due by Tuesday, June 5th and we will determine the 30 most deserving submissions and contact the winners on Wednesday, June 6th. Please do not submit a registration form unless you will be available to participate on Friday, June 8th at Pluckers.

· You can either register as a single player or play with a friend on Cooperative mode. Your friend can play the bass line or rhythm guitar based on the song.

· You can choose any song from Guitar Hero 1 or Guitar Hero 2 to perform the night of the contest as long as the song is under 5 minutes. However, we are making an exception if you want to play Sweet Child O’ Mine. Why? Because Guns N’ F***kin Roses rules!

· Scoring System – Your score will be based on 3 factors.
1. 40% of your score will be based on your Guitar Hero performance based on your percentage of notes hit. All players will default to playing on Medium, unless they request otherwise. However, there will be an extra multiplier for playing Hard or Expert.

• You will receive a 1.1x multiplier for playing Hard.
• You will receive a 1.2x multiplier for playing Expert
• Example: If you hit 80% of the notes on Hard your score will be 80% x 1.1 or 88% as compared to a player on Medium. This will greatly benefit better players.
  § For teams, the game combines the % of notes hit so there is no scoring advantage in this category versus a single player. However, you might be able to pick up points in the other categories by having a teammate.
• 30% of your score will be based on your costume. Don’t dare show up to this contest dressed in street clothes! We want to see your interpretation of the band you are choosing for your Guitar Hero song.
• 30% of your score will be based on your performance. This has nothing to do with the game score and everything to do with your jumping scissor kicks, choreography with your teammate, Gene Simmons tongue extensions and 12-inch statues of Stonehenge.
• Entourages are not part of the scoring system, but obviously the more fans you have screaming for you, the more the judges will be impressed.
• We will have three celebrity judges who will score and provide commentary on your performance.
